Fall Photo Wish List
The Teacher
As we prepare our fall issue, we are inviting contributors to look through their existing photo libraries for strong seasonal material. Many of you already have images that show the behaviour and colour of this time of year, and we would like to feature work that reflects the natural pace of fall in our region.
We are interested in photographs of bighorn sheep during their fall behaviour. This includes rams making contact during head clashes and rams showing lip curl behaviour as they check for the scent of ewes. These scenes show clear social interaction and are valuable for readers who want to understand the species more closely.
We are also looking for images of migrating birds that do not appear here often. Many contributors have recorded short visits from uncommon species during past seasons. These photographs help document the movement of birds through the region and add variety to our fall coverage.
Bears in fall colour are another important subject. Many of you have captured bears feeding, moving through open areas, or travelling along creeks during this season. These images help show the natural preparation that takes place before winter.
Ducks surrounded by fall foliage are also welcome. Many archives contain calm scenes from ponds and creeks where the changing leaves create strong colour around the birds. Low angle images are especially useful because they keep the scene simple and direct.
We are also inviting photographs of beavers preparing for winter. Many contributors have recorded beavers gathering branches, repairing lodges, or moving through open channels. These images help show the steady work that takes place in the weeks before freeze up.
If you have material that fits these subjects, we encourage you to review your archives and send in selections that feel clear, honest, and grounded in real behaviour. Fall moves quickly each year, and your past work helps us build a complete picture of the season for our readers.
